PETER KIRN began his trajectory as an electronic composer with classical training in NYC, where he co-founded the first Contemporary Ensemble of The Graduate Center of The City University of New York and worked with choreographers Kathy Westwater and Christopher Williams. Since his move in Berlin in 2011, he has embraced experimental and club music in Berlin, from holding down raunchy techno sets to unexpected interventions (an installation in a Berghain dark room with light artist Gabriela Prochazka, live performances at kinky club night Pornceptual).
His work here absorbs that free-flowing, dreamlike approach to sound, as well as his attention to original work with technology. The electronic music community are likely to have come across his name as the prolific editor of
CDM, which dives deep into music and live visual technology news and reflections on its process, or via the collaborative performance laboratories he runs with CTM Festival and other partners, the Music Makers Hacklab.
